Overview
Connect Gong to let your AI coach access your sales conversation data (calls, insights, deals) in real time, read-only, during conversations.
Connection type: Coach tool (MCP)
Authentication method: OAuth — organization configuration by an administrator is required beforehand (per workspace)
How to connect Gong
Unlike most tools, Gong requires a two-step setup: a one-time configuration by an administrator, then a connection by each user.
Step 1 — Administrator setup (once per workspace)
- Make sure your Gong organization has MCP (Beta) enabled, along with the required Gen AI credits (depending on your Gong plan).
- In Gong, open Admin Center > Ecosystem > API and create a new integration dedicated to MCP, with the
mcpscope. - For the redirect URI, enter the URL provided by Forge in your workspace's Gong configuration screen.
- Retrieve the Client ID, Client Secret and your Gong organization URL (in the form
https://YOUR-COMPANY.app.gong.io). - In Forge, open the workspace administration and fill in the Gong configuration: organization URL, Client ID and Client Secret.

Step 2 — Per-user connection
- Go to Settings > Tools.
- In the Coach tools section, find Gong and click Connect.
- If you see "Org config required", ask your administrator to complete Step 1.
- Follow the OAuth authentication steps to authorize Forge to access your Gong account.
- Save the connection.

Using it during conversations
Once connected, your AI coach queries Gong in real time (read-only) whenever your question needs sales conversation data, for example:
- Retrieve the key points and insights of a call or meeting recorded in Gong.
- Review the progress of a deal or an account.
- Prepare a follow-up or coaching session based on recent conversations.
Prerequisites:
- A Gong organization with MCP (Beta) enabled and the required Gen AI credits.
- Gong organization configuration completed by an administrator of your workspace (Step 1).
- A Gong user account with access to the relevant data.
Managing the connection
- Check status — Make sure the connection is active and healthy.
- Edit — Update the authentication settings.
Removing the connection
- Go to Settings > Tools.
- Find the Gong connection and click Remove (trash icon).
- Confirm in the confirmation dialog.
Implications of removal:
- The coach immediately loses access to your Gong data and can no longer query it during conversations.
- Ongoing conversations are not interrupted, but any request involving Gong will be reported as unavailable.
- Removing at the user level only affects your own connection. If an administrator removes the organization's Gong configuration, all workspace users lose access to Gong.
- Data: Forge stores no Gong data permanently — the integration is real-time and read-only, and no copy is retained after removal. The OAuth authorization is revoked on the Forge side.
- You can reconnect Gong at any time by repeating the connection steps.
