Overview
Connect Jira to allow your AI coach to access your tickets, projects, and sprints in real time during conversations.
Connection type: Coach tool (MCP)
Authentication method: OAuth / API Key
How to connect Jira
- Go to Settings > Tools.
- Under Coach tools, find Jira and click + Add.
- Follow the OAuth authentication flow or enter your Atlassian API key.
- Authorize access to the desired projects and boards.
- Save the connection.
How it's used during conversations
Once connected, your AI coach can query Jira in real time during conversations. It will automatically use this tool when your question requires Jira data, for example:
- Listing open tickets in a sprint or project.
- Finding the status or assignee of a specific ticket.
- Getting an overview of a project's progress.
Manage the connection
- Check status — Ensure the connection is active and working.
- Edit — Update authentication settings.
Remove the connection
- Go to Settings > Tools.
- Find the Jira connection and click Delete (trash icon).
- Confirm the deletion in the confirmation dialog.
What happens when you disconnect:
- The coach immediately loses access to Jira tickets, projects, and sprints — it can no longer query this data during conversations.
- Ongoing conversations are not interrupted, but any query involving Jira will be ignored or flagged as unavailable.
- Data: Forge does not permanently store any Jira data — the integration works in real time and no copy of your data is retained after disconnection.
- You can reconnect Jira at any time by repeating the connection procedure.
