Overview
Connect Atlassian Confluence to let your AI coach search and read your Confluence pages and spaces in real time, read-only, during conversations.
Connection type: Coach tool (MCP)
Authentication method: OAuth (Atlassian, per user)
How to connect Confluence
- Go to Settings > Tools.
- In the Coach tools section, find Confluence and click Connect.
- Follow the Atlassian OAuth authentication steps and authorize Forge to access Confluence.
- Save the connection.
Already using Jira? Confluence and Jira share the same Atlassian application. You will still need to re-authorize access to grant the new Confluence permissions (content read, search, and space information). A new Atlassian consent window will appear when you connect.

Using it during conversations
Once connected, your AI coach queries Confluence in real time (read-only) whenever your question needs information from your documentation, for example:
- Search for a Confluence page or content by keyword.
- Read and summarize a documentation page or procedure.
- Retrieve information about a Confluence space.
Prerequisites: an Atlassian account with access to Confluence and the relevant spaces. On first connection (or when adding Confluence to an existing Jira integration), you must accept the new Confluence permissions.
Managing the connection
- Check status — Make sure the connection is active and healthy.
- Edit — Update the authentication settings.
Removing the connection
- Go to Settings > Tools.
- Find the Confluence connection and click Remove (trash icon).
- Confirm in the confirmation dialog.
Implications of removal:
- The coach immediately loses access to your Confluence content and spaces and can no longer query them during conversations.
- Ongoing conversations are not interrupted, but any request involving Confluence will be reported as unavailable.
- If you also use Jira through the same Atlassian application, the Jira connection is not affected by removing Confluence.
- Data: Forge stores no Confluence data permanently — the integration is real-time and read-only, and no copy is retained after removal. The OAuth authorization is revoked on the Forge side.
- You can reconnect Confluence at any time by repeating the connection steps.
